We welcome submissions to be considered for inclusion in future issues of PORT smith. As this is a curated publication, not all submissions will be published although each will be given thoughtful consideration.

This is a self-published endeavor by Plainspoke. Proceeds from sales or any sponsorship will help to offset the cost of printing and binding. Contributors will not be paid — nor will they be asked to pay — for inclusion in the journal. Contributors will receive two complimentary copies of the journal upon publication.

Visual artists/photographers/makers:
We seek focused projects or thematic series rather than general portfolios. Initial submissions can be provided as low-res JPEG or PDF files. If your work is selected for inclusion, images will need to be provided as reproduction-quality digital files (minimum 8 x 10 inches at 300 ppi/dpi). Physical/dimensional artwork will need to have been professionally photographed and provided at the same resolution requirements described above.

We will also need a brief written description of your project — this can include the origin, meaning, physical description, etc., of the featured body of work — as well as a short artist bio of 50 words along with one website/online link that you’d like to include. This text might be edited for consistency with others appearing within the publication.

Writers:
We seek essays, short stories (1,000 to 3,000 words), poems, transcripts of spoken word performances and excerpts from lengthier works. Please provide all submissions as Word documents.

We will also need a brief personal bio of 50 words along with one website/online link that you’d like to include. Your bio might be edited for consistency with others appearing within the publication.
